Garden of the Gods - October 2018

Troop 9 is heading down to the Garden of the Gods on Saturday October 6 to go hiking and ziplining.

Each scout participating should reserve their spot by September 25. Each participant should complete their registration by returning the permission slip, release form, and $50 participation fee.

10/06/18:

0700 Pack and Load

0800 Depart

1200 Arrive at Garden of the Gods, eat packed lunch

1600 Depart Garden of the Gods

1610 Arrive at campsite

1700 Finish camp setup and start dinner preparation

1800 Cook supper

10/07/18

0630 Wake up, breakfast, pack-up gear

0900 Depart for Cave-in-Rock

0930 Arrive Cave-in-Rock

1100 Depart Cave-in-Rock

1300 Arrive at American Obstacle, eat packed lunch

1400 Zipline

1600 Depart zipline

1800 Arrive at HCS

Travel:

The trip will be around a 4 hour drive with stop from Champaign to Garden of the Gods.

The troop will be staying in the Saline County Fish and Wildlife campground for one night.  We will prearrange car and tent arrangements before the trip.

How to dress for ziplining:

• Ensure to wear closed toed shoes ( No Sandals or Five Fingered Toed Shoes )

How to dress for hiking:

• T-shirt (wicking is best)
• Wool or wicking socks
• Shorts
• Sturdy, broken-in tennis shoes or hiking boots
• Backpack
• Hat
• Sunscreen
• Two 32 oz water bottles
