Troop 9 is heading down to the Smoky Mountains on Thursday July 19 to go ziplining, white water rafting, and hiking.
Each scout participating should reserve their spot by May 8 with $50 down payment (non-refundable). Each participant should complete their registration by returning the permission slip and $200 by July 10.

Travel:
The trip will be a 9-10 hour drive (with stops, not including a time change) from Champaign to Cosby Campground.
The troop will zipline at Climbworks on Friday July 20. This is about a 15 minute drive from the campground. After ziplining the troop will go to a mountain coaster. There are a couple of options for mountain coasters that are about a 15-30 minute drive from Climbworks. On Saturday July 21, the troop will go white water rafting at Smoky Mountain Outdoors. This is also about a 15 minute drive from the campground. After white water rafting the troop will move to Cade's Cove campground in a different part of the park. This drive is about a 90 minute drive. The troop will plans to break this up by going to the Elkmont Ghost Town on the way.

How to dress for ziplining:
- Ensure to wear closed toed shoes ( No Sandals or Five Fingered Toed Shoes )
How to dress for white water rafting:
- Proper Footwear - BARE FEET AND FLIP-FLOPS ARE NOT PERMITTED. Sneakers, water shoes, and sandals with a heel strap work best.
- Towel
- Dry Clothes
- Sunscreen
- Waterproof Camera
How to dress for hiking:
- T-shirt (wicking is best)
- Wool or wicking socks
- Shorts
- Sturdy, broken-in tennis shoes or hiking boots

Meals

- The troop will pay for the meals on travel days
- Everyone will eat together
- Adults will cook all meals with scouts helping
