By Jack Williamson, Troop 9 Historian
This years merit badge was very interesting. There were over 500 people at the merit badge seminar. There were over 30 merit badges taught.
The opening ceremony went really well. We had a flag ceremony after that people who had offsite classes left early.
Next people went to their first class. There were eagle scout merit badges such as citizenship in the world, cooking, and personal management. There were fun ones too like chess, railroad, and aviation.
After the first classes we had lunch which was papa John's pizza, soda, and chips. It was very good. After lunch there was another set of classes.
After the other troops left we cleaned up the school. The event couldn't be done without the help of three groups of volunteer people from other troops, volunteers from the U of I, and people from troop 9.
Thanks for the report, Jack! Do we have a final count on this year's attendance? I thought everything went very well, and I appreciate all those who volunteered their time. Special thanks to Chris Leininger, Mike Clapper, Gabe Jackson, Jim Logsdon, Anthony & Beth Frasca, Patty Sobeski, and Chris Williamson for coordinating the critical "behind the scenes" work. (And apologies that I'm sure I'm forgetting someone!)
